2009 Miracles And Magic Review

“WOW” Would be my first word. It just goes to show that even in this struggling time in terms of the economy people believe in what we are seeking to accomplish; “to allow incredible kids the opportunity to forget about shots, treatments and hospital beds and instead be able to be lost in the amazement and wonder of the magic and simply learn to be a kid again.”

For the first time, we had over 500 children with life threatening illnesses and their immediate family members join us for the 1pm matinee (SOLD OUT) performance. It has been my goal to be able to continue to support more children and I feel great that we’ve been able to do so.

The opening party at our new venue, Martini Park, was a huge success with over 400 people in attendance along with mind blowing entertainment, special effects and surprises that had people literally jumping out of their seats. Special thanks to magicians Aaron DeLong, Brandon Williams, David McCreary and Steve Branham. Along with other special entertainers Mark Abbati of Joy Unspeakable and one of the top flair bartenders in our country; Rob Turek.

Saturday’s family matinee performances showcased the amazing Dana Daniels (Los Angeles, CA) and Tim Hill (Cleveland, OH) with which I was honored to share the stage. It began with an illusion never before seen….the surprise and magic appearance of mini van center stage which was filled with 21 kids who then came streaming out one by one.

Tim Hill was filling the shoes of Kerry Pollock who was meeting up with his son returning from his tours in Iraq. Tim did a sensational job and got the show started with some great laughs and magic. Dana and his psychic parrot Luigi then brought the house down with their comedic charm and talent. I brought back some illusions from the past as well as brought my wife Stacey back into the show with help from our newest assistant and dancer Maggie Derr who all were fantastic. Of course we ended with the ‘SNOW’ illusion which has become customary for this production running 8 years strong.

I don’t yet know the final numbers in terms of gross and net dollars raised but have great expectations based on the turn-out on both Friday and Saturday.

Special thanks to all of advisory board and committee members that this production now includes. It simply couldn’t be done without them. What began as my wife and me selling tickets from our kitchen now involves over a 40 person committee of dedicated and passionate people who also want to help some amazing kids be just that…A Kid Again.

Thank you all for your support and patronage. Stay tuned to this page for information for the Dayton event in September 2009 along with the inaugural event in Cincinnati in 2010 and back in Columbus in March 2010.

Thank you and hope to see you soon!
