As the opening Keynote speaker for AgricultureFuture of America (AFA) Leadership Conference. It was an honor and privilege to fill that role and truly an awesome experience meeting the future of global agriculture.
We discussed significance in who we are and what we do, and how that impacts their careers, their communities and the world. But it seems they may have been a step ahead of me, as they left quite an impact on me.
Following the opening keynote, I was presented a gift. A gift I was not expecting.
In my honor, AFA donated 25,000 meals via the charitable organization; Numana. Numana is a non-profit that builds unity and community among volunteers by helping to feed those who need it most. These college and university students helped hand pack 25,000 soup packets (NO…I did not misplace my comma – twenty five thousand packets) to be supplied to those in need.
The simplicity of a meal. It’s something that so many of us take for granted due to our circumstances, or favorable resources. Yet, there are so many who don’t have a choice of what to have for lunch or dinner. More so, it might be; Can I have lunch or dinner?
These outstanding leaders decided to make a difference. I applaud them and encourage you. Go out and take time to notice the every day things that are mundane or you take for granted. Then, find a way to make those moments significant. I hope you share with me, what you decided to do.
Thank you AFA for the wonderful opportunity to be your opening keynote speaker. I wish all you leaders continued success and passion for what you do.
Always remember that it’s SHOWTIME . . . and life isn’t a dress rehearsal.
